Overview -
We are recruiting for a Civil Estimator to join a growing civil construction group based in South Australia. This role is open to both experienced estimators and junior candidates who are looking to build their career within a stable and fast-growing business.
The company is in a strong position following the acquisition of two additional businesses and is focused on building out its internal technical capability. This position offers the chance to work directly with senior leadership, contribute to a growing estimating function, and be part of the company's next phase of growth.
Our client delivers a range of civil works including bulk earthworks, road construction, land subdivisions, commercial sites, and infrastructure. With a team of over 150 staff and a fully owned fleet of plant and equipment, they are structured for in-house delivery and minimal external reliance. They are scaling steadily and seeking professionals who want to be part of that journey.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in preparing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions
* Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to support pricing
* Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors for quotes and availability
* Support the estimating team with take-offs, documentation, and revisions
* Maintain cost databases and ensure project assumptions are clearly recorded
The Ideal Candidate:
Our client is open to either a junior candidate with relevant training or experience, or a seasoned estimator seeking a new challenge. You will need a good understanding of civil construction fundamentals and be motivated to learn and contribute.
Skills and Qualifications Required:
For Junior Applicants:
* Ideally 1–2 years of experience in civil estimating, project coordination, or site support
* Relevant qualification in civil engineering, construction management, or similar
* Ability to read plans and communicate with suppliers or site teams
* Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or estimating software
For Experienced Applicants:
* Minimum 3 years in a Civil Estimator (or equivalent) role
* Proficient in estimating software such as CostX, Cubit, or similar
* Ability to manage multiple tenders and work independently
* Strong supplier networks and commercial awareness
* Confident communicating with Directors, Project Managers, and site teams
