The Ar Rjum Project is a significant undertaking within the Central Arabian Gold Region, approximately 200 km north-east of Taif towards Riyadh and about 26 km South of Al Mouwayh, situated on the Jeddah – Riyadh highway.
This project involves green field gold mining operations with three open pit mines, associated waste dumps and ore stockpile, processing plant, tailings management facilities, and supporting infrastructure including water supply, power supply, maintenance facilities, offices, temporary and permanent accommodation village.
As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and reviewing mechanical design work, producing drawings and documentation, and preparing design estimates for this project.
You will coordinate with clients, facilitate technical discussions, review and approve drawings, calculations, and bid summaries, ensuring complex technical issues are resolved and mechanical designs comply with all regulations and standards.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading or administering work of Mechanical designers and drafters for a business line technology to include preparation of layouts, study drawings, detailed 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models and construction drawings
* Developing designs for complete and complex Mechanical engineering systems and components used in mining, materials handling and refining facilities with minimum supervision
* Preparing or assisting with the preparation of assigned material requisitions and bid evaluations
* Monitoring and checking work for compliance with approved Mechanical design standards to provide quality design, reliable/safe plant operation and construction economy, ensuring Mechanical systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards
* Participating in constructability and model reviews
* Preparing design and drafting procedures to standardize design team efforts and processes
* Coordinating or making jobsite visits, as required, to resolve problems and interpret drawings and documents
* Reviews Mechanical design scope changes, as required, for project management
* Endorses or prepares reports of work progress, as required, for project and discipline use
Requirements include:
* Diploma in relevant engineering discipline or expert course in drafting, design and engineering practices
* Typically requires 8-10 years of relevant work experience
Required skills and qualifications include:
* Sound knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, graphic arts, reading of drawings, and reproduction methods used by the discipline
* Experience with multi-discipline interface management and global 3D model oversight
* Experience with Smart3D application preferred
* Experience with modelling of common mechanical equipment on mining and metals projects, including interfaces of equipment with other disciplines
* Expertise in reading, interpreting and using related documents and drawings prepared by other project groups
* Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to design responsibilities
* Working Rights in Australia without employer sponsorship are required
