As an ASD EL1 Lead Network Engineer, you will lead the design, build, and support of the organisation's IP-based Wide Area Networks, Local Area Networks, firewalls, and associated systems. This leadership role involves guiding technical teams through a period of significant technological change, ensuring ASD's networks remain secure, resilient, and capable of supporting critical intelligence and cyber operations.
ASD EL1 Lead Network Engineer
Undertake complex engineering and project work.
In-depth knowledge of and compliance with policy and legislative frameworks.
Translates and shapes strategies, policies and operational practices.
Possesses knowledge relating to the methodology, systems and procedures within the engineering management function.
Evaluates technical and design packages including scoping, planning, and reviewing implemented actions.
Responsible for significant aspects of the installation, upgrade, operation, control and effective use of local and wide area networks for the communication of data, voice, audio, text or images.
Establish and lead network planning for own area of responsibility and designs the infrastructure necessary to provide the network services to meet service level agreements.
Maintain and apply detailed knowledge and experience related to the current ASD and industry accepted network hardware and software products.
Identify areas of risk and review the adequacy and effectiveness of ASD's approach to risk in the use of ICT and offer appropriate suggestions to address the risk.
Has expertise in change management and applies this to ensure the continuity of network operations and business functions during network installation or integration tasks.
Build and sustain relationships, liaise with a range of stakeholders including other teams, peers and colleagues across ASD and other organisations.
Lead, motivate and mentor teams, aligning complementary skills and allocate resources in a manner that delivers results.
Evaluate projects to understand critical factors for success and engage in activities to achieve continuous improvement.
Analyse very complex network engineering issues, applying expertise to identify and recommend courses of action.
