Overview

Your role at St John of God Langmore Centre will provide reception and switchboard support and work closely with hospital caregivers to ensure all patients admitted to St John of God Health Care have adequate health cover and are provided with informed financial consent. Joining the Patient Services Department, you will be responsible for acting as a key contact point for patients, clinicians, practice managers and health funds in regard to a patient's pre-admission, admission, discharge and billing of patients and debtors follow up as required. This includes reviewing eligibility, consent and personal details related to the patients' admission.

The Position
* Working knowledge and experience using (Patient Administration System- IBA WebPas).
* Advanced skills and knowledge with a range of computer packages, particularly the Microsoft Office suite with a good level of attention to detail and accuracy.
* PAS- Update and maintain patient admission system IBA WebPas.
* Proficient in the use of Novell Groupwise and internet, intranet and other relevant computer software required by SJOGHC.
* Completing various reports as required.
* Admission & Discharge of In-Patients, Day-Patients and Community Service Patients including all associated tasks.
* Advise patients of their rights and responsibilities/privacy information including the distribution of the rights and responsibility booklet and privacy brochure on admission to our facility.
* Inform patients of the out of pocket expenses verbally and in writing to ensure informed financial consent is completed and signed by all parties.
* On occasion, work on front reception handling customer / patient enquiries either via phone or face to face including answering phone calls via main switchboard.
* Always be courteous and friendly to customers - patients, caregivers, visitors and doctors.
* Maintain Patient confidentiality at all times.

You will have an excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to hospital staff, patients, families and medical staff.

To succeed you will have experience with hospital patient administration systems and availability to work shifts scheduled between 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday.

* Salary: $37.94 to $39.03 per hour (includes casual loading) plus 12% superannuation
