About the Directorate
The State Security and Defence Policy (SSDP) directorate leads engagement with the Australian Government on national security and emergency management matters and, when required, drives cross-government collaboration and coordination on these issues. SSDP also leads whole of government Defence policy advice to support the Western Australian Government's initiatives across defence industry development, strategic coordination, and Commonwealth-State engagement.
Please note, DPC are currently implementing structural changes. Minor changes are anticipated for this role e.g. title change. The key responsibilities and requirements of the role are not subject to change.

Essential
* You are strategically focused and have demonstrated experience in aligning operational activities to organisational and government objectives in complex environments.
* You have demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and reviewing government policy.
* You deliver on your responsibilities and ensure that you lead with integrity and that your leadership supports a productive team environment and you monitor your team's capacity to deliver expected results.
* You have demonstrated experience in engaging with internal and external stakeholders to cooperate effectively and develop partnerships that deliver productive outcomes.
* You have strong written and oral communication skills and can write, present and engage clearly and persuasively for your intended audience.
* You must be able to apply for, obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting (NV1) Clearance or higher.
Desirable
* You have broad knowledge of Western Australian Government policies, priorities, and practices and how the Western Australian Government interacts with the Commonwealth, State and Territory governments.
* You have experience in national security and emergency management policy.
* You possess relevant tertiary qualifications.
