Mechanical Fitter/Machinist - U.S Deployment

To deliver on this new and exciting work, we are seeking skilled trades individuals to undertake long‑term, world‑leading training in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, U.S.
Placements are due to deploy in May 2026 and will be between 12 – 18 months in duration.
Responsibilities
In the role of Mechanical Fitter/Machinist, your responsibilities are:
* Manufacture, repair, and rebuild parts and items of equipment from raw stock of different metals such as stainless‑steel alloys, aluminium, titanium, magnesium
* Set up and operate most types of conventional and CNC machine tools such as lathes, vertical and horizontal boring mills, bench, plain, and universal milling machines.
* Use a variety of auxiliary machine tool attachments such as rotary vices, dividing heads, taper attachments, magnetic chucks, vertical milling heads, tapping attachments, rotary tables, and others.
* Work from blueprints, sketches, work orders, models of parts to be made, or other specifications.
Eligibility Criteria
The successful applicant must possess:
* An ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 defence clearance
* Minimum Cert III in Mechanical Fitter/Fitter Machinist
* 1st Class Machining
* 1‑5 years' experience (desirable)
During deployment, you will receive on‑the‑job training combined with instructor‑led classroom training. This training program and work is carried out in accordance with company and US Navy processes and procedures.
At the completion of your deployment, you will return to Western Australia (WA) to carry out the planning, management, and in‑water maintenance activities on the United States Navy Virginia Class Submarines. Repatriation to WA is non‑negotiable, so please consider this when applying.
Please note: This is a Civilian role and recruitment processes will differ from those undertaken in Active Service Defence recruitment.
