Senior Design Engineer – Full Time – Permanent $99,000 - $114,000 + allowances + commuter-use vehicle + 12% super, with matching up to 15%.
Some engineers design projects. Others help shape the infrastructure that communities rely on for decades.
If you're an experienced Civil Engineer ready to apply your technical expertise beyond design delivery, this could be the opportunity you're looking for. At the City of Armadale, you'll play a key role in shaping roads, drainage, intersections and community infrastructure that supports one of Western Australia's fastest-growing communities.
As a Senior Design Engineer, you'll provide technical oversight across a diverse portfolio of civil infrastructure projects, reviewing design outputs, guiding Civil Designers, managing consultant-delivered designs and helping ensure projects are practical, compliant and ready for successful delivery.
Working across the full project lifecycle, you'll provide technical leadership that influences design outcomes, manages project risks, and delivers high-quality infrastructure for the community. Beyond design, you'll help shape the future pipeline of works through contributions to design briefs, technical investigations, business cases, funding submissions, and infrastructure programs from concept through to delivery.
What You'll Be Doing
Providing technical oversight and quality assurance across civil infrastructure projects
Reviewing and guiding design outputs for roads, drainage, intersections and community infrastructure
Providing technical direction, work allocation, review and sign‑off for two Civil Designers, supporting their development while ensuring the delivery of high‑quality design outcomes.
Managing consultant‑delivered designs and technical investigations
Applying sound engineering judgement to resolve technical challenges and manage project risks
Working closely with stakeholders and delivery teams to ensure designs are practical, compliant and constructible
About You This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineer seeking greater influence and leadership responsibility, with the chance to guide and develop a small design team while remaining closely involved in technical design and project delivery.
You'll bring
A degree in Civil Engineering recognised by Engineers Australia
Extensive experience in civil infrastructure design
Strong knowledge of roads, intersections, drainage and associated infrastructure
Experience reviewing engineering designs and providing technical advice
The ability to work across multiple projects and stakeholders
Experience working with consultants, contractors and multidisciplinary teams
Strong knowledge of relevant engineering standards and guidelines
A practical approach to problem solving and decision making
If you're someone who enjoys applying your expertise, improving outcomes and contributing to projects that make a lasting impact on the community, you'll fit right in.
