In this role, you'll:
As part of the Coordinator‑General Division, you’ll be at the heart of statewide asset management, supporting asset planning and service delivery across NSW’s multi‑modal transport network.
We’re looking for a technically confident Reliability Engineer who can balance deep engineering expertise with strong facilitation and stakeholder engagement. You’ll play a key role in improving asset reliability and performance across outsourced transport operations from buses and light rail to maritime and ferry’s.
Your focus will be on:
- Applying Reliability‑Centred Maintenance (RCM), Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), and Maintenance Requirements Analysis (MRA) to improve asset performance.
- Supporting the development of Technical Maintenance Plans and working closely with the business to ensure alignment with operational needs.
- Facilitating and coordinating reliability workshops, bringing people together to solve problems and drive continuous improvement.
- Acting as a trusted advisor, building relationships, offering guidance, and proactively identifying risks and opportunities.
- Translating complex technical insights into practical, actionable strategies.
This role requires someone who can balance technical depth with engagement and coordination someone who’s just as comfortable in a spreadsheet as they are leading a room full of stakeholders.

You’re a natural problem solver with a strong foundation in reliability engineering and a collaborative mindset. You’re proactive, adaptable, and ready to take ownership of your work.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has experience in reliability engineering methodologies (RCM, FMECA, MRA).
- Is confident facilitating workshops and engaging cross‑functional teams.
- Can work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Brings a mix of technical credibility and people skills ability to switch between deep analysis and dynamic facilitation.
You’re a proactive and adaptable engineer who thrives in both technical and people‑facing environments. You know how to turn data into insight, and insight into action.
