About The Role
As a Birra Li Child and Family Health Nurse/Midwife, you'll play a meaningful role in supporting Aboriginal families through pregnancy, the antenatal and postnatal journey, and early childhood. You will provide essential child health checks and immunisations up to school age, working side-by-side with families, community organisations, and primary care partners to strengthen child development, enhance maternal wellbeing, and nurture connection to culture.
You will join a warm, highly collaborative team of around 25 dedicated professionals – including nurses, midwives, a lactation consultant, a social worker, and Aboriginal Health Workers/Practitioners – who work closely together to share clinical expertise, cultural knowledge, and deep community connections. Each clinician partners directly with an Aboriginal Health Worker, ensuring care is culturally safe, strengths-based, and truly person-centred.
This role offers clinical supervision, rich professional development opportunities, and a team culture built on respect, empathy, and collective wellbeing. Daily travel to outreach clinics across our footprint is a valued and rewarding part of the role, helping extend high-quality care to the families who need it most.
Together, we contribute to improving outcomes for Aboriginal families and advancing Closing the Gap priorities across our community.
