Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to join our team in Adelaide.
You will be working on the Hobart Class Destroyer Capability Enhancement, Test and Commissioning Program. This is a permanent full-time opportunity that offers flexible work options, including hybrid arrangements and a 9-day fortnight.
You will report to the Auxiliaries or Hotel Services/HVAC Lead and play a critical role in conducting Installation & Set to Work (STW) activities, Testing, Commissioning & Maintenance of Ships Systems and Equipment.
This opportunity requires appropriate security clearances.
Key Responsibilities
* Set to work, test, integrate and commission equipment and systems.
* Develop and prepare accurate technical documentation.
* Provide expert technical services to projects.
* Provide input to planning and maintenance of schedules.
* Assist in the design, construction, testing and acceptance of systems.
* Perform defect analysis and provide detailed technical reports.
* Contribute to analysis of complex technical problems.
* Make decisions and facilitate problem-solving.
* Manage own time to address competing task priorities.
* Work as directed by Test & Commissioning Technical Lead.
* Act as ship platform systems mechanical Subject Matter Expert.
* Carry out tasks safely, including planning isolations of ship systems.
* Attend training as required.
Requirements
* Hold a Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical OR Certificate III in Plumbing Operations.
* Significant post-trade experience in a complex production environment.
* Strong experience in equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
* Strong problem-solving skills with ability to work under pressure.
* Demonstrated communication skills.
* Demonstrated professional integrity and advanced technical knowledge.
* Desire to share good practice and technical knowledge locally.
* Possess or be eligible to obtain defence security clearance.
