The Role
Reporting to the Head of Projects, this role will be responsible for managing projects through the early development and pre-construction phases, acting as the primary interface between customers, internal engineering teams, EPC contractors, consultants, network operators, and project stakeholders. The successful candidate will oversee project planning, technical coordination, grid connection support, commercial management, and risk mitigation activities to ensure projects progress efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage utility-scale BESS projects through development, design, and pre-construction phases.
* Act as the primary customer interface following project award.
* Coordinate internal engineering, product, commercial, and supply chain teams to support project execution.
* Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, risk registers, and key deliverables.
* Facilitate project kick-off meetings and governance reviews.
* Coordinate technical submissions and documentation packages.
* Support grid connection activities including engagement with AEMO, NSPs, consultants, and project stakeholders.
* Manage project scope, change requests, and contractual obligations.
* Oversee permitting, approvals, landowner requirements, and development milestones where applicable.
* Support EPC selection, contract negotiations, and project execution planning.
* Identify and mitigate project risks while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders.
* Ensure project objectives relating to schedule, quality, safety, and commercial outcomes are achieved.
* Support transition of projects into construction and commissioning teams.
Skills & Experience
* Degree qualification in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
* 5+ years' experience delivering renewable energy, utility infrastructure, power generation, transmission, or BESS projects.
* Strong understanding of utility-scale renewable energy project development and execution.
* Experience managing multidisciplinary stakeholders including developers, EPC contractors, consultants, utilities, and regulatory authorities.
* Exposure to AEMO connection processes, GPS requirements, and grid compliance activities.
* Knowledge of Australian grid connection processes and utility-scale project development pathways.
* Strong commercial, contractual, and risk management skills.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management capabilities.
* Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently within a fast-paced environment.
