CJD are seeking an experienced General Manager who is ready to drive our business forward. Reporting to the Executive General Manager – Construction Equipment, your role is primarily responsible for the success of CJD Equipment's Volvo Construction business in Victoria. This includes providing excellent customer service, ensuring the safety of all stakeholders, meeting or exceeding all company & supplier targets and providing superior returns for shareholders. Success will be achieved by leading, coaching and mentoring a dedicated team of engaged and enthusiastic employees. The General Manager is responsible for maintaining a positive corporate culture.
This position has responsibility for the various functions of the State including Sales, Parts, Service, Administration, Maintenance, People & Culture, OHS, and Compliance. You will work in conjunction with the department management team to successfully manage and grow business within Victoria.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Maintain regular contact with key clients, suppliers, industry & government representatives and other internal stakeholders.
* Oversee Branch and Department Manager's operational initiatives to ensure the business activities are contributing to the short- and long-term objectives
* Coaching and mentoring with direct reports and ensure regular contact is made regarding business developments and performance.
* Establish the marketing plans, key client strategies, and sales forecasts, and undertake market share analysis to ensure achievement of budgeted profit targets
* Manage business forecasts and responsibility for the financial success of the business.
* Ensure compliance to company policy and legislative requirements at all times and enforce safe working practices.
* Ensure safe work practices are enforced and adhered to at all times.
Key Attributes
Due to the technical and operational requirements of this role, we expect that the successful candidate will have a background in the capital equipment market or other related industries. Other key attributes will include:
* Leadership skills in a specialized sales environment and excellent business and financial acumen.
* High energy and a can-do attitude with a result focus. The successful person will be collaborative in their approach with an ability to motivate teams for success.
* A good working knowledge of equipment operations, mechanical functions, and parts operations
* A working knowledge of equipment specifications and industrial engineering principles
* Understanding of financial reporting principles
* An effective listening and communication style along with the ability to engage people at all levels.
* Strong organisational skills and high attention to detail.
* Self-motivated and punctual, with excellent time management skills.
