Chapter Lead – GenAI Engineering (Full-Stack, Cloud, DevSecOps)

We're looking for a hands-on Chapter Lead to guide and grow our GenAI engineering capability across the E2E Service Journeys crew. This role is ideal for a seasoned technical leader who thrives on cultivating engineering excellence, leading by example, and enabling teams to deliver secure, scalable, and customer-centric solutions.

As a Chapter Lead in the Everyday Banking Domain, you'll lead a community of engineers supporting the E2E Service Journey crew—including Disputes, Deceased Estates, and Authorities. These journeys are critical to delivering compassionate, efficient service in the moments that matter most to our customers.
You'll play a key role in shaping the engineering culture, driving DevSecOps maturity, and embedding full-cycle engineering practices across squads. You'll also be a strategic partner in scaling our GenAI capabilities, building on our pioneering work in dispute resolution automation. This exciting space is pioneering the right controls and challenger model frameworks, allowing customers to interact with a truly leading edge generative AI experience.
What you'll do:
* Lead the Chapter: Coach and mentor engineers across squads, fostering a high-performance culture grounded in psychological safety, inclusion, and continuous learning.
* Be Technically Hands-On: Contribute to architecture, design, and development of GenAI-powered solutions. Lead by example in coding, reviewing, and deploying high-quality software.
* Champion Engineering Maturity: Drive adoption of full-cycle engineering, DevSecOps, and test automation practices. Set the standard for engineering excellence.
* Shape Technical Direction: Collaborate with product and platform leads to influence architecture, design patterns, and tooling strategies—especially in GenAI and cloud-native domains.
* Grow Capability: Identify skill gaps, lead hiring efforts, and support career development pathways for engineers in your chapter.
* Foster Collaboration: Build strong relationships across squads, domains, and business units to align on shared goals and deliver value at scale.
* Embed Risk Mindset: Promote secure-by-design principles and ensure compliance with cloud security and data governance standards.
What you bring:
* Proven leadership experience in engineering teams, ideally in a Chapter Lead or Principal Engineer role.
* Deep expertise in software engineering, with hands-on experience in full-stack development, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), and DevSecOps.
* Strong understanding of GenAI technologies and their application in enterprise environments.
* Passion for coaching, mentoring, and growing diverse engineering talent.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* A growth mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Technical environment:
You'll be expected to work closely with engineers and contribute directly to the codebase. Familiarity and experience with the following will set you up for success:
* Languages & Frameworks: Python, Typescript, C#, .NET Core, REST APIs, microservices, containerization
* Cloud & DevOps: AWS, Azure, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps), observability tools (Observe, Obstack)
* Architecture: Event-driven systems (Kafka, MQ), orchestration (Apache Camel, Temporal)
* Security: Identity management, encryption, and cloud security best practices
* Data: Relational (Postgres, Oracle), NoSQL (MongoDB), data lakes and real-time pipelines
