As a Behaviour Support Practitioner in the Specialist Services Team, your primary objective will be to enhance the quality of life for our NDIS participants through positive behaviour strategies and collaboration. We are seeking an experienced practitioner or recent graduate with a qualification in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, or similar to join our team.
We will provide you with a comprehensive induction and on-the-job training to ensure you have the necessary tools to succeed in your role. You will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of people living with a disability while developing your skills and expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
* Build close relationships with participants, their families, and service providers by creating a supportive and safe environment.
* Provide professional information to individuals with disabilities and their support networks regarding evidence-based approaches to reduce the impact of challenging behaviour.
* Ensure that the support delivered aligns with the participant's NDIS Plan.
* Conduct behavioural assessments with NDIS participants who have complex and challenging behaviours.
* Develop and implement intervention strategies in consultation with individuals and families.
* Record support plans, notes, and documents accurately and in line with the NDIS framework.
What You Will Bring To The Role
* A degree qualification (or higher) in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or similar field.
* Experience or knowledge of contemporary practices and trends related to service provision for people with intellectual and/or cognitive disabilities.
* The ability to motivate, build rapport, and attune with participants, their families, and service providers.
* Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment attending client visits and providing community-based support.
* Knowledge of restrictive practices and experience with developing and implementing positive behaviour support plans.
* An understanding of good clinical practice, jurisdictional requirements, and the context in which Behaviour Support is provided.
* Strong IT, administration, and organisational skills as you will be working with billable time.
