Job Title: Welding Inspector
We are seeking a professional with expertise in pressure vessels and steel fabrication to fill the role of Welding Inspector. This position offers an opportunity for growth in a thriving business environment.
* This key role involves conducting visual inspections (VI) of welds, adhering to AS/NZS and ASME codes.
* The successful candidate will be responsible for managing welder qualifications, requalification processes, and maintaining quality control records.
* Monitoring welding processes, consumables, and equipment to ensure compliance with approved procedures is also an essential aspect of this role.
* Recording welding activities in our quality control database and project work packs will be handled by the selected candidate.
* Mentoring and developing welding staff to enhance skills and reduce defects is also a significant responsibility.
* Liaising with day shift supervisors and inspectors to ensure seamless handovers is crucial.
* Collaboration with our QA teams on documentation and NDT contractor management will also be required.
Requirements:
* A trade qualification in welding or fabrication is necessary.
* AS1796 Welding Supervisor Certificate 10 or equivalent inspector certification (IIW, WTIA, CBIP, or CSWIP 3.1/3.2) is preferred.
* A minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role within a pressure vessel workshop plus 5 years' trade experience is required.
* Strong knowledge of AS and ASME welding codes and NDT requirements is essential.
* Proven experience across manual welding processes (GTAW, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW) and automated systems (SAW, Orbital, robotic) is required.
* Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to lead and mentor under pressure, are vital.
