Geotechnical Design Engineer
Join us in shaping the future of high-voltage infrastructure by playing a key role in driving geotechnical design and delivery excellence across major projects, including substations, transmission lines, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and Balance of Plant works.
As a senior technical leader responsible for overseeing geotechnical investigations, analysis, and design inputs from early works through to construction, you will work closely with civil, structural, and electrical teams to ensure geotechnical solutions are practical, compliant, and constructible. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on our national engineering team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the geotechnical design process across all project phases, including feasibility, tender design, detailed design, and construction.
* Plan and interpret geotechnical investigations (boreholes, CPT, SPT, test pits, etc.) and produce detailed geotechnical models and reports.
* Deliver geotechnical assessments for foundations, slope stability, settlement, ground improvement, and detailed geohazard mitigation strategies.
* Provide peer reviews and technical sign-off for geotechnical deliverables.
Requirements:
* Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering.
* Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) with Engineers Australia.
* Registration on the National Engineering Register (NER) and/or Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ), or ability to obtain.
* Proven experience in the geotechnical design of infrastructure projects, preferably within the power, energy, or civil construction sectors.
* Strong knowledge of soil and rock mechanics, foundation engineering, ground improvement, and slope stability.
* Proficient in geotechnical software such as Plaxis, SLIDE, LPILE, Settle3, gINT, WALLAP, or equivalent.
