About the Role
The Therapeutic Carer provides holistic care, supporting clients with daily needs, developing individual plans, and maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing day-to-day care that meets clients' developmental needs and promotes positive self-esteem, attachment, and security.
* Assisting clients to develop social skills, problem-solving abilities, and independent living skills.
* Supporting clients who have experienced adverse life events, trauma, and separation.
* Managing challenging behaviors in a trauma-informed manner.
* Maintaining accurate records regarding clients.
To be successful in this role, applicants should possess:
* A relevant tertiary qualification or at least 3 years of relevant experience.
* Strong interpersonal skills, including engaging with children and their families.
* Skills in caring for children and an understanding of child development.
* Demonstrated ability to document and report incidents and behavior succinctly and objectively.
* Demonstrated capacity to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Experience managing challenging behaviors.
* Understanding the impact of trauma on child development.
* An understanding of issues related to child protection.
