Position overview
We are seeking a strategic and collaborative professional to join the Bureau's Water Section to help shape the next chapter of the National Water Account (NWA), building on its strong foundations to enhance its relevance, accessibility, and impact. The Water Section focuses on increasing the value and impact the Bureau delivers to its customers, with emphasis on supporting the Commonwealth Government, and State and Territory lead water policy agencies and large water utilities.
The ideal candidate understands the power of water data in informing national priorities, thrives in partnership environments, and works closely with partners and stakeholders to co-design solutions that respond to evolving government and community needs. With a user-focused mindset and strong communication skills, you are adept at translating complex information into meaningful insights. Role responsibilities
- Lead initiatives that enhance the Bureau’s products and services, particularly those related to national water information reporting (e.g., National Water Account refresh).
- Work with agencies and customers to support water information data sharing, alignment of definitions, and interoperability of water information.
- Represent the Bureau in interagency working groups and national forums related to water information.
- Gather, analyse and share customer requirements and develop opportunities that support continuous improvement and innovation in water information practices.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with key partners and internal stakeholders to understand customer needs and realise customer advantages.
- Support the delivery of key program initiatives and priorities for the Bureau's Water Section; undertake other tasks related to team and Bureau priorities as required.
- Support broader Agriculture and Water Program or Bureau activities as required.

Mandatory qualifications
- A degree or diploma from an Australian educational institution, or a comparable overseas qualification appropriate to the duties.
Merit pool
The selection process will establish a merit pool that may be used to fill similar positions within 18 months.
