Why work in regional areas

Western Australia is a large and diverse state with white sandy beaches, vineyards and forests in the south, a tropical climate in the north, and the arid red dirt of the outback. The variety of landscapes makes it an ideal location to explore and experience the relaxed outdoors Australian lifestyle. Many teachers in regional areas report strong sense of community, opportunities for career growth, and meaningful interactions with students and families. Cultural awareness and understanding are important for teachers in regional areas; the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework guides staff to incorporate culturally responsive practices when working with Aboriginal students, families, and communities. Students in rural communities are open, friendly and active, reflected in dynamic classroom environments and strong parent–teacher relationships. Teachers in rural schools often report high job satisfaction and appreciation from the community.
