About the Role
Sydney Local Health District has a long and proud history of delivering care in the community including prevention, early intervention, assessment, treatment, health maintenance and continuing care services designed to improve and support the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.
In this role, you will manage the Health components of the Joint Child Protection Response Program (JCPRP) response to child protection referrals in partnership with JCPRP interagency partners, NSW Police and Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ).
You will provide timely, high-level advice on strategic, policy, and operational health issues to children and young people who have experienced sexual assault, physical abuse and neglect and their non-offending family members presenting to JCPRP.
In conjunction with the Child Protection Unit Management, you will develop, evaluate, and review policies, procedures, strategies, and resources necessary to implement NSW Health\'s responsibilities for children and young people who have experienced sexual assault, physical abuse and neglect and their non-offending family members presenting to JCPRP.

Ideal Candidate
* Social Worker / Counsellor: Must hold a bachelor's degree in Social Work which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers or a bachelor's degree in Counselling or a related field.
* Clinical Psychologist: AHPRA registration as a psychologist and must hold a post graduate degree in Clinical Psychology (Masters, and/or Doctorate or PhD) that provides eligibility for full membership of the ACPA.
* Current NSW Drivers Licence (P1 and P2 acceptable).
* Understanding of Health Service therapeutic responses to children and families who have experienced Violence, Abuse and Neglect and skills in facilitating referrals to health and other services as appropriate.
* Ability to manage the development of therapeutic responses, including crisis intervention, to victims of sexual assault and physical abuse and neglect of children. This includes building rapport and assisting non-offending parents/carers of children and young people referred to JCPRP.
* Understanding of the legislation, Government policies, including NSW Health policies, and legal issues surrounding Child protection, sexual assault and the physical abuse and neglect of children.
* Previous experience working with Aboriginal communities and/or demonstrated understanding of issues surrounding child sexual assault, physical abuse and neglect of children and family violence in Aboriginal communities.
