Cloud Support Associate Apprenticeship Program
The Cloud Support Associate Apprenticeship Program is an accelerated career development program for professionals who want to start or advance their technical skills. Training is broken into two main pieces: instructor‐led and on‐the‐job training.
* The instructor‐led training (ILT) starts in September 2026 and consists of two days a week of virtual classroom sessions delivered by our Vocational Provider, leading to a recognized Diploma.
* Alongside the ILT, apprentices will undertake on‐the‐job training (OJT) at AWS, delivered in person with teams based across Sydney.
If accepted, apprentices will receive 2 days a week of formal IT training and 3 days a week of paid on‐the‐job training at AWS. The 18‐month program leads to a Vocational Diploma in IT and a potential permanent role at AWS.
Key Job Responsibilities
* Work with network, systems, and software engineers to create proactive engineering mechanisms that enable the team to manage the health of distributed specialized Linux server fleets and the software stacks that run on them.
* Deploy and monitor systems and automation to ensure regional tooling operates optimally.
* Utilize trends and metrics to identify opportunities for improvement within existing frameworks, tools, and processes, continuously improving systems.
* Perform high‐quality systems deployment, operations, best‐practice application, optimization, internal and external customer interactions, and produce appropriate technical documentation and reports.
* Maintain responsibility for systems functionality, performance, and configuration issues.
* Apply knowledge of Unix concepts and theory, and participate in systems deployment and support.
* Contribute to creation and improvement of all support documentation.
* Operate with limited guidance and actively drive issues to resolution.
Basic Qualifications
* Year 12 certificate or higher.
* Interest in pursuing a career in technology.
* Availability to start the program in 2026 H2 and commit to 18 months of work/study.
* No prior vocational Diploma in the same field (e.g., IT).
* Training Services NSW focuses on qualification achieved, not on specific units of competency studied in the Diploma.
Preferred Qualifications
* Lower level vocational qualification in IT, such as Certificate III or Certificate IV in IT.
* Degree in IT or computer science from another country, provided it has not been recognised in Australia.
