Buyer – Fresh Produce
to join our team at Brisbane Markets, Rocklea.
Work Schedule
* Monday to Friday with early starts and early finishes
* Sunday: Brief remote task (around 1 hour) to manage stock and purchase orders (no trading)
* Holiday Period: Operating the week before and after Christmas; closed Christmas Day, open New Year's Eve
You'll be responsible for managing state based purchasing across key categories and banner groups, developing and negotiating strategies that deliver strong sales, profitability, and marketing income.
This role is all about relationships working closely with retailers and suppliers to create competitive solutions and drive loyalty to our retail offer.

In this Role
* Manage produce purchasing across defined categories
* Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and business partners
* Deliver budget targets aligned with strategic plan initiatives
* Oversee product ranging and inventory management
* Identify and secure potential supply opportunities
* Implement strategic business plans to support growth
* Secure promotional commitments and lock-ins
* Achieve required sales margins in line with budget expectations
You're Likely a Match If
* Minimum 3 years' experience in fresh produce buying, with strong category management knowledge
* Customer-first mindset, committed to delivering value and quality for retailers and end consumers
* Exceptional relationship-building skills, fostering strong partnerships with suppliers, retailers, and internal teams
* Commercial and analytical acumen, with proven ability to interpret market trends, negotiate effectively, and drive profitability
* Strategic execution capability, demonstrated success in implementing processes and delivering business strategies
* Industry insight, including knowledge of growing cycles, supply trends, and market dynamics in fresh produce
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and cloud-based tools such as SharePoint
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, ensuring collaboration across all levels
