About the Opportunity
Ensign Australia is offering a rare opportunity for a professional, flexible, and dynamic Drilling Superintendent to join our busy Toowoomba-based office, supporting Queensland Operations.
Reporting to the Operations Manager and working closely with a small local team, this full-time, office-based role is pivotal in managing day-to-day drilling operations, ensuring compliance across health, safety, environment, and governance, and delivering on client contract deliverables.
Our Fleet includes ADR200, ADR400 and ADR 1500 Rigs, experience with this technology is essential.
The Position
- Manage assigned rig operations and personnel.
- Champion safety leadership and safe operations.
- Support field management and resolve operational challenges.
- Motivate drilling teams to meet performance targets.
- Supervise and manage rig employee performance.
- Assist with project invoicing and materials purchasing.
- Liaise with clients to improve performance and safety.
- Interpret and negotiate contracts.
- Ensure equipment compliance with maintenance schedules.
- Understand government regulations and industry standards.
- Plan and schedule operations in coordination with rig management.
- Collaborate with clients to achieve rig performance goals.
- Ensure compliance with Ensign's Global Risk Management System.
- Conduct regular remote site visits and occasional interstate travel.
About You
- 10+ years of relevant industry and leadership experience in Oil & Gas Drilling.
- Experience in any type of Oil & Gas drilling operations is acceptable to meet the 10+ years requirement.
- IWCF Well Control Supervisor Level 4 Certificate (or ability to obtain).
- Desirable: Tertiary qualifications in Management, Engineering, or related fields.
- Strong safety leadership and communication skills.
- High-level written and verbal communication.
- Team-oriented with a positive attitude and sense of humour.
- Self-motivated with excellent time management.
- Possess a positive, solution-focused and continuous improvement attitude
- Proficient in MS Office Suite.
