Bring joy through social connection - Pamper volunteer, HammondCare Riverglen
Help our older patients feel relaxed and cared for in our Older Persons' Mental Health unit at North Ryde. As a volunteer, you will offer companionship while providing simple, soothing beauty experiences with a gentle hand massage and simple nail care — like filing or adding a splash of nail polish. You will spend time with the patients, be a good listener, comfortable to share quiet moments or enjoy some calming music together.
This role is all about kindness, presence, and the power of a warm, caring touch. It's a lovely way to brighten someone's day while offering a peaceful, pampering experience.
Your impact
Volunteering as a social visitor can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated.
Requirements
Applicants must be aged 18 years and over. HammondCare will organise and pay for a national police check. You will be required to meet NSW Dept of Health Immunisation standards for the category of this role (including HepB, Measles, mumps and rubella, Tetanus, influenza or be willing to discuss meeting the requirements).
One hour each week for 12 months or longer; we'd be happy to discuss a suitable time between Monday to Friday.
