ABOUT THE ROLE
The QA & Test Automation Lead is responsible for the quality outcomes across the delivery portfolio and acting as the independent authority on whether initiatives are ready to progress or go live.

You will own the quality assurance standards that underpin delivery defining what "good quality" looks like and ensure testing is built into delivery from day one. You will also lead the portfolio's test automation strategy enabling scalable and repeatable testing outcomes across multiple initiatives.

This is a highly influential role where your judgement, independence and technical capability will directly shape delivery quality, risk management and release decisions across the organisation. This role can be based in either Melbourne or Sydney

Essential duties:
• Own and maintain QA standards across the portfolio, including expectations for test coverage, defect management, test evidence and release readiness.
• Act as the independent quality authority, providing objective assessment of whether initiatives meet QA standards for progression and go live.
• Provide formal release readiness assessments as an input to Director-level decisions.
• Maintain visibility of portfolio-level quality risk, identifying systemic issues and escalating where standards are at risk.
• Evaluate and integrate third-party or internally developed automation solutions aligned to portfolio standards.
• Integrate test planning into programme planning (environments, test data, entry and exit criteria).
• Lead, develop, support QA testers, setting clear expectations for quality, professionalism and technical capability.

Other duties:
• Contribute to uplift of quality maturity across the function through standards, guidance and practical enablement.

ABOUT YOU

The successful candidate will portray the following:

Essential:
• Demonstrated experience owning QA outcomes in complex technology delivery environments with accountability for standards rather than task execution.
• Strong understanding of software QA principles, test strategy design and lifecycle integration.
• Proven technical capability in test automation, including development of scripts, frameworks and tooling.
• Ability to assess, integrate automated and manual testing approaches across teams or vendors.
• Strong judgement and professional independence to provide objective quality assessments under delivery pressure.
• Portfolio-level perspective to identify systemic risks and recurring quality issues.
• Strong leadership and coaching capability to develop QA professionals and uplift delivery team capability.

Other:
• Clear communication skills, ensuring quality risks and release decisions are understood and trusted by senior stakeholders.

Education & Experience

Essential:
• Extensive experience leading QA outcomes in complex technology environments with accountability for standards and outcomes.
• Proven experience managing and developing QA professionals, including coaching and holding standards under delivery pressure.
• Strong hands-on experience designing and developing automated test frameworks, scripts or tooling.
• Experience defining and enforcing QA standards across teams, projects or portfolios.
• Ability to independently assess testing approaches and provide objective release readiness recommendations.

Other:
• Experience working across Agile and structured delivery models.
• Familiarity with modern test automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines and continuous testing practices.
• Experience contributing to quality maturity uplift across a function.
