The Division of Medicine at RSCH / PRH are looking for a Divisional Director of Quality, Safety and Governance for a period of 1 year to cover maternity leave.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Divisional Director of Quality, Safety & Governance will work alongside the Divisional Quality & Safety Lead, Divisional Quality & Safety Manager, Divisional Director of Nursing and Chief of Service and will be responsible for developing and supporting robust quality and safety structures and processes for the Division.
In addition, the post holder will deputise as Chief of Service (COS) in the chief's absence and lead in specific areas agreed with the COS, and develop their own leadership skills.
Person specification
Essential criteria
Previous experience in substantive consultant role.
Significant evidence of success in a Consultant leadership role.
Operational management experience.
Business / service planning in management or educational role.
Management of Human Resource issues.
Evidence of ambition and relevant experience / qualifications in clinical leadership.
Evidence of continued professional development.
Understanding of the provision and delivery of health care services, and of the Government's strategy and plans for modernising health car
Sound understanding of the principles of clinical governance and clinical quality improvement.
Clear understanding of the NHS systems, agenda and strategic issues in healthcare and ability to interpret these in a given setting.
Detailed understanding of current clinical and other issues relating to acute healthcare.
Commitment and passion for customer focused service with the ability to embed such an ethos at all levels of the organisation.
Written and verbal communications.
Desirable criteria
Postgraduate qualification in leadership or management
On the specialist register.
Postgraduate clinical qualification
Case management or case investigation training.
Lean management system knowledge.
Experience as an appraiser to support revalidation.
Skills – Essential criteria

Environmental and political awareness
Service improvement skills.
Financial management skills.
Computer and keyboard skills : to include Word, Excel and Outlook.
People Management & Development – Essential criteria
Demonstrable leadership and ambassadorial skills with an ability to demonstrate a flexible leadership style.

Ability to develop others.
Freedom to Act – Essential criteria
Ability to work autonomously, liaise and coordinate the Management Team on a day to day basis and to take appropriate action as necessary.
Identify and adhere to best practice.
Responsible for own professional actions and have sufficient autonomy for the delivery of the role.
Able to interpret national and local guidance and to develop local policies to reflect these standards.

High level of self-awareness, and openness to self-improvement.
