The Position
We are currently seeking a Legal Assistant to join our Brisbane office, supporting work authors across our General Liability team.
The role of a Legal Assistant at Carter Newell Lawyers is to provide high level administrative services to the team, to meet client requirements and to deliver exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
Managing own and work author's emails as required, including ensuring timely filing of emails, filtering incoming correspondence, proactively dealing with queries and meeting invites.
Coordinating and producing compliant documents, matter lifecycles and correspondence including preparation of briefs for counsel.
Conflict searches.
Assisting work authors with expense claims in a timely manner.
Assisting with the production, signing and mailing of monthly bills for work authors.
Diary management, travel booking and handling of telephone calls; and
Associated administrative duties.
Essential Experience and Criteria
At least 12 months of experience in a legal support role, preferably within an insurance environment, with exposure to general liability matters.
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office products with good typing and word processing skills.
Proactive, positive and responsive 'can do' approach, with the ability to learn things quickly.
Highly developed interpersonal and effective time management skills.
Ability to work in a team environment and be flexible to meet team requirements.
