The Venue:
The Subi is a multifaceted hospitality enterprise comprising three busy bars, a thriving functions business and casual premium pub-restaurant. We provide an authentic and premium pub experience - reliable and high-quality dining and a popular drinks selection - with a few extras, specialties and elevated offerings too. The Subiaco Hotel is a landmark venue in an iconic location, which has served the community for generations. We take a leadership role in the community, helping to support and drive the renewed interest in the area.
LocalsCo was awarded the 2025 AHA Group Operator Award. The Subi is a flagship of the group, a family-run WA-based hospitality group committed to refreshing and running community institutions. We undertook a large refresh of the Subi in 2020, repurposing it for the modern Subiaco community by returning the venue to its roots as Subiaco's Pub. We plan to extend our restaurant in 2026 to cater for the high demand.
The Role:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Assistant Manager to help run this busy venue. You will ensure we deliver a high standard of professional service whilst maintaining our casual atmosphere and approach. You will help train and develop and manage casual staff members in food and beverage delivery including product knowledge and upselling. General management duties relating to the efficient operation of the restaurant and bars including but not limited to cash handling, staff management including rostering and customer experience. The customer is king, all managers are expected to be hands on for all services, leading by example.
The Position:
The Assistant Manager will provide leadership and work with the six other managers, multiple supervisors, chefs and food/beverage staff. This person will be well-versed in the following:
* Running the bars and restaurant during lunch and dinner services.
* Leading large teams of salaried and casual staff members per service.
* Ensuring the front line teams are always welcoming and providing great service.
* Promote a culture of fun customer engagement, retention and strong loyalty by leading innovative and targeted initiatives, which maintains venue popularity year-round.
* Maintain a high standard of venue presentation and attention to detail.
* Solid understanding of high-volume food and beverage outlets.
* Ability to train staff in customer engagement and sales.
* Basic understanding of labour targets and rostering.
* Assist the Venue Manager and 2IC to manage and coordinate a calendar of functions and events.
Staff management
* Conducting Inductions for new staff members and any follow up training required
* Planning and executing breaks for FOH and Supervisory staff
* Monitor and enforces customer service standards as provided by FOH staff.
* Ensure FOH staff and Supervisors are utilising and completing checklists, then checking that work is of a satisfactory standard.
* undertaking RSA training as appropriate and complying with the intent and legal obligations of RSA.
* Enforcing systems, policies, and procedures on shift.
* Planning, monitoring, and appraising job results on shift

Experience in a similar role

* Competent IT Skills
