Job Description:
The Department of Education is seeking a temporary full-time Head of Department (Curriculum) at Mount Isa Special School.
This position will be responsible for leading relevant curriculum areas or whole school programs to develop and implement a shared educational vision focused on quality learning outcomes for all students.
The successful candidate will have strong relational skills to develop positive relationships with students, staff, and the wider school community.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead Curriculum Areas: Develop and implement a shared educational vision focused on quality learning outcomes for all students.
* Coordinated Teaching: Provide targeted teaching for students requiring intervention.
* Teacher Support: Support teachers and staff to access departmental or external services, professional development, and support.
* Decision Making: Participate in decision-making processes and professional development to support school goals and planning.
* System Implementation: Implement school-wide systems, including data systems for students with disabilities and data collection on students with disabilities.
* Socially Just Practices: Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
* Standards Setting: Set high standards for student and staff performance.
* Lifelong Learning: Engage in lifelong learning and professional development.
* Partnerships: Build partnerships with students, parents, community groups, and agencies.
* Futures-Oriented: Be futures-oriented and strategic.
* Policies and Legislation: Understand legislation and policies impacting schooling, especially related to students and staff.
* Resource Management: Manage human, financial, facilities, and curriculum resources to meet goals.
Requirements: A current Working with Children Clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.
