This role focuses on expanding business relationships and clinical trial recruitment pipelines by identifying, engaging, and supporting clinical patients suitable for ophthalmology studies across Sydney. The Business Development Manager will work closely with clinical sites, ophthalmologists, patient communities, and internal teams to ensure strong patient identification, referral pathways, and trial awareness.
Responsibilities
* Develop and execute strategies to identify and engage potential patients for ophthalmology clinical trials.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with ophthalmologists, optometrists, clinics, and hospital networks.
* Establish referral pathways and partnerships to support patient recruitment goals.
* Collaborate with clinical operations teams to understand study protocols, inclusion/exclusion criteria, and recruitment targets.
* Conduct outreach to patient advocacy groups, community organisations, and relevant healthcare networks.
* Analyse patient recruitment data and market trends to optimise engagement strategies.
* Represent the organisation at industry events, conferences, and professional meetings.
* Prepare reports, forecasts, and insights for senior leadership.
* Ensure all activities comply with Australian regulatory and ethical standards for clinical research.
Qualifications
* Experience in business development, clinical research, healthcare partnerships, or patient recruitment.
* Strong understanding of ophthalmology, medical devices, or clinical trial environments (preferred).
* Proven ability to build relationships with healthcare professionals and clinical sites.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to interpret clinical trial protocols and translate them into recruitment strategies.
* Strong organisational and analytical capabilities.
* Familiarity with Australian healthcare systems and clinical research regulations.
