About The Business Unit
Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC) is a maximum-security remand facility located in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne.
It houses unsentenced male offenders awaiting court outcomes.
The MRC has 954 beds and is part of the West Metropolitan Region under the Department of Justice and Community Safety.
About The Role
The Justice Officer – Records will specialise in the Records stream and may be rotated between one of six streams (Records, Property, Stores/Canteen, Infrastructure/Technology, Finance, Administration) over time to support career development and operational flexibility.
Key responsibilities include:
Greeting and liaising with clients and stakeholders, providing accurate advice and information regarding justice services.
Delivering justice services, maintaining accurate and confidential records, and producing statistical reports in line with agreed standards and operating procedures.
Performing all administrative functions pertaining to Records at MRC under supervision.
About You
The ideal candidate will possess:
Well-developed computer literacy.
Good knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulations.
Understanding the importance of maintaining accurate records and the legal implications of documents handed down by the courts.
