Grange Advisory is seeking an experienced Senior Investigator to lead complex workplace investigations, conduct workplace cultural reviews, workplace grievance processes and preliminary assessments. This role is suited to a legally trained professional who can operate with a high degree of autonomy, managing sensitive and high-risk matters from intake through to final outcome.

You will be responsible for delivering fair, thorough, and legally robust investigations processes, often involving senior stakeholders and complex factual scenarios across a diverse client base, while ensuring participants are treated with respect and care throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead Complex Investigations processes
* Conduct preliminary assessments, grievance processes, review of actions and cultural reviews
* Independently conduct workplace investigations and related processes into complex matters end-to-end, including:
* Bullying, harassment and discrimination
* Misconduct and serious misconduct
* Code of conduct breaches
* Whistleblower and integrity complaints
* Define scope, develop strategies, and manage competing risks and priorities
* Conduct detailed interviews and assess conflicting evidence
* Ensure all investigations and related processes are conducted in a procedurally fair, impartial, and trauma-informed manner
* Manage multiple matters concurrently, ensuring timely progression and completion of investigations

Apply Legal Expertise

* Apply strong knowledge of employment law, administrative law principles, and procedural fairness
* Ensure investigations and related processes are legally defensible and aligned to best practice
* Identify legal and reputational risks

Reporting & Outcomes

* Produce high-quality, evidence-based investigation reports, including:
* Findings of fact
* Analysis of evidence and credibility
* Clear and defensible conclusions
* Prepare cultural review reports, including observations and recommendations arising out of comprehensive review processes
* Prepare preliminary assessment reports, outlining recommendations for how a matter might best be resolved or progressed
* Provide recommendations to support decision-making within required timeframes

Stakeholder & Client Engagement

* Work with a diverse range of clients, including:
* Law firms
* Public sector employers
* Build and maintain collaborative working relationships with clients, HR, Legal teams, and key stakeholders
* Engage confidently with senior leaders and decision-makers
* Ensure clear, professional, and effective communication throughout all stages of the investigation
* Manage sensitive matters with discretion and professionalism
* Ensure respectful, professional, and empathetic interactions with all participants throughout the investigation process
* Contribute to strengthening investigation frameworks, policies, and templates
* Support capability uplift across client organisations where required

About You

Essential Experience and qualifications

* Qualified lawyer (current or former practising certificate preferred)
* Current Private Security Individual Licence
* 8–12+ years' experience in:
* Employment law and/or
* Workplace investigations
* Demonstrated experience conducting complex workplace investigations, cultural reviews and grievance processes autonomously, including:
* Managing matters from intake through to final report
* Handling sensitive and high-risk complaints
* Experience gained in private practice, consulting, corporate, or public sector environments

Key Capabilities

* Deep understanding of employment law, procedural fairness and natural justice
* Strong ability to analyse evidence and make sound, defensible findings
* Demonstrated ability to conduct investigations using a trauma-informed approach, balancing sensitivity with objectivity
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
* Highly developed interviewing and questioning techniques, including managing vulnerable or distressed participants
* Strong time management and organisational skills, with the ability to:
* Manage competing priorities and deadlines
* Progress multiple investigations concurrently
* Deliver outcomes in a timely and efficient manner
* Collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively with others while maintaining independence and impartiality
* Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision
* Strong judgement, integrity, and discretion
* Experience conducting reportable conduct matters
* Experience managing investigations involving senior executives or complex organisational dynamics
* Familiarity with public sector frameworks or regulatory environments
* Work on complex, high-impact matters across diverse clients
* High level of autonomy and trust
* Exposure to a variety of sectors and legal contexts
