We are looking for a senior-level architectural draftsperson or architect with an interest in prefabrication and experience within the BIM management space. The role will focus specifically on the design and documentation of our modular and site-built central facilities, however, will include some key responsibilities assisting the BIM Manager in the implementation and management of our BIM processes. This individual will need to be able to work independently and productively with minimal day-to-day supervision; assist in the development, implementation and management of our digital processes, standards, and libraries; adapt quickly and easily to changing priorities within each of our projects; enjoy working within in a fast-paced work environment; and actively contribute in our aim to “build better” in each of our projects. Within this role, there will be scope to learn and understand prefabrication construction methods and to provide input into the architectural and interior design of some of our key central facility buildings.
The successful applicant will ideally have experience in the modular building design space, although strong drafting, design and communication skills, adaptability, productivity, and demonstrated experience using Revit will be highly regarded.
Responsibilities will include;
* Design and documentation of single floor and complexed modular buildings and combined modular and site-built facilities (including architectural and services drawings) based on McNally standard construction methods, under the direction of the Design Manager.
* Coordination of architectural and services drawings with in-house steel fabrication drafting team, services contractors, and external consultants (Energy Efficiency, BCA and Engineering).
* Identification and reporting of critical design issues to the Design Manager as they arise.
* Undertaking of peer drawing reviews using McNally standard drafting checklists, procedures, and standards.
* Assist with the development, implementation, and management of digital processes.
* Edit and create Revit families for library updates by BIM Manager.
Skills and experience will include;
* Minimum 7 years’ experience using Revit.
* Experience in editing, creating, and manipulating Revit families and schedules.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to work and problem solve collaboratively with other members of the Design, Project Management and Construction Team.
* Experience using MS Excel and Teams.
* Experience using SketchUp and / or Twin Motion.
* Experience using Dynamo and / or 3D steel modelling software experience (FrameCAD Structure experience) highly regarded.
* Experience with Mining and / or Defence projects desirable.
* Experience coordinating services consultants / contractors’ designs.
* Strong understanding of design standards and codes.
* Modular building design experience desirable.
