The Employer: The business has a large number of self-replacing Merino ewes and a substantial irrigated and dryland summer, winter and cotton cropping operation. They produce winter grazing crops and pastures, along with summer crops (as water allocations permit), using both spray and flood irrigation methods. A forward-moving enterprise, the business continually seeks to fine-tune operations with consistent investment in land development, infrastructure, and machinery, adding to its already substantial agricultural portfolio. The livestock enterprise focuses on dual-purpose, self-replacing Merino ewes, with a portion joined to terminal rams for trade lambs, and cattle are traded periodically to take advantage of seasonal feed. Efficiency and the use of technology are paramount to how the business operates, utilising up-to-date modern equipment and excellent infrastructure to provide an enjoyable and safe workplace. Utilising your previous sheep and cropping experience, you will be involved in all facets of the business, including stock work, irrigation and machinery operation, offering substantial diversity within your role throughout the year. All staff are involved in the general maintenance and repair of machinery and infrastructure; therefore, mechanical aptitude and fabrication skills will assist your success. Based at Conargo, during busy periods, you will be required to work across all properties, adding to the diversity of this already exciting role. The Conargo position is based on a historic, picturesque property with Yanco and Double Billabong Creek frontage, offering unique lifestyle benefits. A comfortable 4-bedroom house with a recently renovated kitchen and bathroom, and is conveniently located 25km West of Jerilderie. Jerilderie provides access to all basic amenities, including health services and education. Alternatively, the major service centre of Deniliquin is within 50km of the property with all main services available.
