Our Better Cities & Regions team embeds sustainability at the precinct, community and city scale, delivering solutions that support urban resilience and equitable development in a changing climate.
The Consultant (Better Cities & Regions) will apply technical skills and analytical frameworks to support the Better Cities & Regions team to provide design-led advice and to drive effective and ambitious integration of environmental, social and economic sustainability in the built environment.
EXPERIENCE & ATTRIBUTES
Must Haves
* Deep alignment with our values and an active interest in sustainability and design
* A relevant qualification in Sustainability, Landscape Architecture, Environment, Science, Engineering, Urban Design, Urban Planning, or a related built environment discipline
* A minimum of 2 years experience in a role involving delivery of sustainability and/or built environment related projects or services
* Experience project managing small scale projects with support from more senior team members
* Technical skills and knowledge of subjects such as climate risk and adaptation, green infrastructure, energy and carbon emissions, sustainable urban development, circular economy, life cycle assessment and/or integrated water management
* Understanding of frameworks and tools including eTool or Green Star Communities
* Strong software capability such as InDesign, Microsoft Office and project management software with an ability to learn new applications quickly
* Ability to think logically, analyse and assess opportunities and risks and identify solutions and outcomes
* Excellent time management skills and a collaborative approach to work
* Great written and verbal communication skills and developing a strong capacity to understand and work effectively within the commercial parameters of project delivery
Nice to Haves
* Understanding of the Victorian Planning System
* Experience with GIS
* An ability to identify opportunities to continuously improve processes and practices
* An understanding of design thinking principles and ability to understand and adopt a design-led approach to problem solving

Content Production
* Report drafting and preparation of client presentations
* Undertake research, analysis and specification of key sustainability initiatives and strategies
* Contribute to the planning and delivery of client workshops and meetings, fostering effective collaboration that drives sustainability results while aligning with overall project objectives
* Contribute to the planning and execution of research initiatives that encourage multi-scale, integrated approaches to sustainability
Project Management
* With direction, take a leading role in the management of small scale projects
* Provide timely and accurate advice to clients throughout the project lifecyle
Business Development
* Build relationships with strategic partners and develop opportunities for work focused on integrated approaches to sustainability
* Assist with proposal drafting and budget development
* Represent HIP V. HYPE at industry events
Professional Development
* Actively develop your own knowledge base and capability by participating in events, seeking relevant industry accreditations and undertaking formal training
* Share insights and information with Our People to ensure we continue to grow our collective knowledge base and maximise delivery efficiency
Communication
* Provide content for social media, articles, advocacy, events, thought leadership, awards and the Credentials to the Head of Marketing & Communications
* Support the delivery of thought leadership pieces that align with our strategic direction
