We are seeking an experienced and passionate Bar Manager to oversee all aspects of bar operations and ensure compliance with NSW small bar regulations. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a thriving venue and make your mark on Newcastle's bar scene.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
* Ensure full compliance with NSW Liquor Licensing laws, RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol), and all relevant legislation.
* Oversee day-to-day operations, including opening/closing procedures, cash handling, and End-of-Night reporting.
* Manage inventory and stock control, including ordering, stocktake, and waste minimization.
* Work with owners to plan rosters and manage labor costs in line with budget expectations.
Team Leadership & Development:
* Recruit, train, and mentor staff to maintain a high-performing, customer-focused team.
* Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
* Lead by example to foster a positive, inclusive, and professional workplace culture.
Customer Experience:
* Ensure every guest enjoys a memorable experience with excellent service and top-quality cocktails.
* Actively engage with customers to build relationships and encourage repeat visits.
* Resolve any customer complaints or issues promptly and professionally.
Beverage Program & Venue Growth:
* Collaborate with owners to develop innovative cocktail menus and seasonal beverage offerings.
* Monitor and analyse beverage trends to keep Blue Kahunas fresh and competitive.
* Identify opportunities for venue growth and improvement.
Compliance & Safety:
* Maintain a safe work environment for staff and customers by following WHS (Work Health & Safety) standards.
* Ensure the venue adheres to all fire safety, food safety, and hygiene regulations.
* Keep accurate and up-to-date incident reports as required by law.
What We're Looking For:
To succeed in this role, you'll need to bring:
* A current NSW RSA Certificate and an understanding of liquor licensing laws
* Proven success as a Bar Manager or similar role in a small bar or cocktail-focused venue.
* Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
* Experience with inventory management
* Exceptional customer service skills and a genuine passion for the hospitality industry.

Availability:
This is a full-time role hours per week). Weekend availability is essential.
