Chef – Trenchard Line (ESS – Compass Group)

Salary: £29,754
Hours: 40 hours per week (full-time, site-based)
Shift Pattern: 5 days over 7 – working one weekend in four
About the Role
We're looking for a skilled and motivated Chef to join our catering team at Trenchard Line, part of ESS – Compass Group .
You'll be responsible for preparing and serving fresh, high-quality meals in a take-out style service, supporting a close-knit team that delivers excellent food and service standards for around 30–60 Service Personnel per meal .
Numbers can increase during functions, exercises, or when more personnel are on site, so flexibility and teamwork are key.
Shift Pattern
* Early Shift: 06:30 – 14:30
* Late Shift: 12:00 – 20:00
* Working one weekend in four
Meal Service Times
Breakfast: 07:15 – 08:30
Lunch: 12:30 – 13:30
Dinner: 18:00 – 19:30
The Team
When fully staffed, our kitchen team includes:
2 Chefs
1 Head Chef
1 Supervisor
2 Front of House staff
You'll be joining a supportive, hands‑on team that takes pride in delivering great food and service every day.
What We're Looking For
* Previous experience in a catering or chef role – essential
* Relevant qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2 or equivalent) – desirable
* Strong knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety
* Excellent teamwork and communication skills
* Flexible, reliable, and positive attitude
