We currently have over 250 frontline employees providing support to our customers across numerous sites in Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, and Maryborough.
About the Role:
Reporting to the People & Operations Manager, the Safety & Wellbeing Advisor is fundamental in ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of staff, clients, and volunteers.
In partnership with the Governance team, the position provides advisory services and operational assistance to managers and staff on Work Health & Safety matters, including incident and risk management, injury management, interpretation and compliance of relevant acts, regulations, standards, and codes of practice, as well as support continuous improvement and employee wellbeing initiatives.
As a Safety & Wellbeing Partner, you will:
* Be the focal point of contact for general enquiries relating to WHS and staff wellbeing.
* Actively participate as a key stakeholder in organisational compliance with the Work Health & Safety Act, Regulations and Codes of Practice.
* Actively participate as a key stakeholder in the development, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of the CLS Incident Management System.
* Delegate and investigate incidents and actions via CLS Incident Management System in a timely manner.
* Meet operational needs of managers and staff in relation to WHS and relevant policies and procedures.
* Support and act as a resource to staff to ensure client goals are achieved in a safe manner and are in line with both legislative requirements and the organisation’s policies and procedures.
* Conduct, monitor, and review Risk Assessments including the implementation and maintenance of identified controls.
* Prepare and participate in audits.
* Coordinate site safety inspections.
* Use internal & external data sources to interpret and monitor the health and safety risk profile of CLS.
* Promote and support a positive safety culture.
* Plan, implement and deliver WHS and staff wellbeing projects across the service.
* Ensure CLS rehabilitation & return to work (RRTW) processes are in line with the expectation of Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Act.
* Support staff through their RRTW journey in an empathetic manner, with a focus on early recovery and safe return to work.
* Assist the People & Operations Manager to monitor progress and outcomes of workers compensation matters and identify areas of risk to reduce claims and assist in proactively managing employee injuries.
* Liaise with insurers, treatment providers, and other key stakeholders on RRTW matters.
* Manage WHS and staff wellbeing related documentation and reports with precision and care.
* Act as a point of contact for employee wellbeing queries and provide referrals to EAP and other support services as required.
* Champion initiatives that create a psychosocially safe and inclusive workplace.
* Contribute to staff engagement initiatives that align with safety and wellbeing values.
* Collaborate with CLS leaders and staff across all levels to embed a culture of proactive risk management, reporting, and care.
* Conduct WHS Induction to new staff.
Your application will be assessed against the following Mandatory Requirements:
* Formal Qualifications in Workplace Health & Safety (minimum Cert IV) or related field.
* Sound knowledge of WHS legislation, regulations, codes, and standards.
* Sound knowledge of the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Act and the RRTW process.
* A thorough conceptual understanding of risk management principles.
* Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills (including monthly reports, and briefing papers.)
* Excellent computer literacy including Microsoft Office with the ability to learn and manage new IT systems.
* Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
* Proven ability to work well as part of an innovative team as well as work independently as required.
* Excellent organisational, time, task, planning, and priority management
* Ability to work collaboratively in a flexible team-based environment.
* Ability to build positive relationships and communicate effectively.
* Be flexible and adaptable in approach and feel comfortable working with ambiguity.
* Have an adaptable approach to stakeholder needs, building robust relationships with a firm foundation of trust.
To be considered you will have (or the ability to acquire):
* Be eligible for, or hold a current Working with Children Blue Card
* Be eligible for, or hold a current NDIS Worker Screening Card.
* Current Driver’s Licence with own reliable vehicle (minimum third-party property damage insurance)
