Primary objective
Provide high quality and evidence-based analysis and advice on projects of commercial potential that will grow the Northern Territory
economy through increased private investment and sustained new jobs creation.
Context statement
The Opportunity Activation team plays a key role in driving economic and industry development by maintaining a strong pipeline of
commercial opportunities with the potential to attract private sector investment and deliver broader economic benefits. These projects
often require strategic government facilitation to reach viability. The team works collaboratively across the division, department, and wider
government to identify, activate, and accelerate high-potential investment opportunities.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide high quality, evidence-based research and analysis on economic and industry projects that support government priorities, with
a focus on boosting private investment and creating sustained new jobs.
2. Support the delivery of identified project opportunities by assisting with project research, analysis, assessments and planning, including
procurement and contract management activities.
3. Prepare high quality briefs, papers, presentations and other correspondence, to respond to Ministerial, Cabinet or Agency requests
and facilitate effective project development.
4. Actively contribute to a culture of achievement within the team.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Experience in project and policy research and analysis, including demonstrated conceptual and analytical skills to understand and assist
with resolving complex project and policy issues.
2. High level communication skills, including demonstrated ability to deliver clear and considered advice and prepare high quality
briefings, papers, presentations and Ministerial correspondence.
3. Demonstrated high level organisational and time management skills with the capacity to prioritise competing requirements, work under
pressure, and meet critical deadlines while maintaining quality of work.
4. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team to achieve results, responding in a positive and flexible way to
changes in priorities.
1. Proven collaboration and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to build and sustain productive working relationships with a
range of stakeholders across government and industry to achieve outcomes.
6. An understanding of Territory and national industry and economic development trends and opportunities, and the ability to translate
this into meaningful advice.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in economics, business, public policy or other relevant disciplines.
2. Demonstrated knowledge or experience in relevant fields of project development e.g. issues identification, business case development,
project management, financial and economic analysis.
