Primary objective

The Advisor contributes to the development of sector-wide strategic workforce planning and development, policies, programs, and

initiatives within the Northern Territory Public Sector (NTPS). The position also prioritises enhancing diversity and inclusion within the

NTPS workforce while ensuring effective support for strategic initiatives.

Context statement

Strategic Workforce Planning and Development's strategic remit is to: build and grow employee capability in the NTPS workforce, focusing

on core capability and leadership development; and deliver sector wide organisational and workplace culture initiatives and projects that

are contemporary, maximise employee engagement, and drive organisational efficiency and effectiveness.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Provide strategic assistance and support for the planning and implementation of sector wide workforce policies, programs, and

initiatives.

1. Project manage various workforce development initiatives, systems, and programs, including financial management and procurement

requirements.

1. Support the delivery of the Disability Employment Program and development of inclusion and diversity strategies and actions.
2. Undertake research and analysis of contemporary national and international trends in strategic workforce development and apply

findings to recommendations relevant to NTPS.

1. Develop and maintain strong partnerships with local and national stakeholders to ensure that workforce development initiatives align

with government objectives.

1. Prepare high level correspondence, briefings, reports, and memorandums.
2. Contribute to improving administrative processes and efficiency while managing shifting priorities and deadlines.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated experience in program development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, preferably in strategic workforce

planning and development, with the ability to take a strategic view and coordinate diverse stakeholders to achieve common goals.

2. Strong financial management and procurement skills, including budget management, expenditure monitoring, and compliance with

procurement policies,

1. High level proficiency in office procedures, systems, and technology such as word processing, spreadsheets, email applications, and

HR management systems.

4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven interpersonal and relationship management abilities to effectively

engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

5. Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement, maintain confidentiality, and prioritise tasks to achieve

multiple outcomes in a dynamic environment.

6. Exceptional organisational skills with adaptability to changing priorities, the ability to meet deadlines, and work effectively under

pressure while upholding the unit's objectives.

Desirable

1. Understanding of contemporary workforce planning and development issues.

2. Tertiary qualification in human resources, business administration, public administration, management, or a related field.
