Yilgarn Iron is a privately owned Australian mining company focused on restarting and responsibly operating a portfolio of historic hematite iron ore assets in Western Australia's Yilgarn region.
The company's assets include Koolyanobbing, Windarling, Parker Range, and adjacent tenements, all hosted within structurally complex BIF sequences typical of the Southern Cross Greenstone Belt.
About the Role:
Yilgarn is seeking Geologists to support significant exploration, resource definition, and operational geology activities across the Yilgarn Hub.
Reporting to the Geology Manager, you'll assist in geological data collection, exploration programs, and resource modelling, contributing to exploration strategies that will shape the project's future.
A key part of the role will be ensuring that exploration activities complement ongoing rehabilitation efforts, supporting the shaping of landforms to be safe, stable, and non-polluting. This will include contributing to managing drainage control, sedimentation traps, ponds, and the encapsulation of potentially polluting materials to meet environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support exploration programs and resource definition across Yilgarn tenements.
* Assist in the reclassification of BIF-hosted hematite resources to meet JORC standards.
* Conduct field mapping, drill coordination, logging, and data analysis.
* Ensure exploration activities align with and support rehabilitation goals, maintaining environmental compliance.
* Assist with gravity surveys and geological investigations to enhance resource definition.
* Provide geological support for grade control and operational activities, ensuring efficient mine planning.
* Maintain geological data and ensure QA/QC standards are met.
Key Requirements:
* Tertiary qualification in geology or related discipline.
* Experience in iron ore operations or exploration (preferably BIF-hosted hematite).
* Strong technical skills in geological data analysis, exploration, and resource modelling.
* Familiarity with drilling, mapping, and geological logging techniques.
* Experience in operational geology, particularly in grade control.
* Familiarity with gravity surveys and geophysical data interpretation.
* Manual C-Class WA Driver's Licence.
