Design & Build are seeking an experienced Site Manager to join a high-performing team delivering landmark high-rise apartment and mixed-use projects in Canberra. This is a rare opportunity to work with a tier-one style integrated developer-builder, managing large-scale multi-residential projects from structure through to handover.
Responsibilities
* Supervise trades and subcontractors to ensure compliance with program, quality, and safety.
* Review and implement ITPs in conjunction with the Site Team and SQP.
* Review drawings, specifications, and scopes of work across all trade packages.
* Assist in developing short- and medium-range programs and ensure implementation on-site.
* Maintain accurate daily site diaries and compile defect lists, ensuring rectifications are completed.
* Coordinate site activities to minimise disruption and maximise productivity.
* Assist the Project Manager/EH&S team in preparing and reviewing project risk registers, project management plans, and emergency procedures.
* Conduct safety briefings, toolbox talks, and ensure all site inductions and worker competencies are recorded.
* Oversee statutory compliance including signage, emergency response, first aid provisions, and site amenities.
* Monitor SWMS compliance, participate in audits and inspections, and report incidents/near misses.
* Ensure non-conformances are documented, corrective actions closed out, and plant/equipment records maintained.
* Oversee use of PPE, hazardous materials, and electrical tool compliance.
* Train and supervise site staff, identify development needs, and support a culture of safety and performance.
* Contribute to monthly project reporting, safety statistics, and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Perform additional duties as reasonably directed to ensure smooth project delivery.
Qualifications
* Demonstrated experience as a Site Manager on high-rise apartment/multi-residential projects ($50M+).
* Trade qualification or tertiary degree in Building & Construction.
* Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, sequencing, WHS, and QA.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
* Proactive approach to problem-solving, safety, and risk management.
