Shalom Blessings Community Care Pty Ltd is a NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) registered disability support provider based in Alice Springs, Northern Territory. We support NDIS Participants to achieve their goals with the person-centred approach. Our supports include Assistance with Self-Care Activities, Assistance to Access Community, Social and Recreational Activities, Supported Independent Living, Short Term/Middle Term Accommodation as well as Disability Related Health Supports by our registered nurses
Due to an increase in demand for our services, we have an ongoing position available for this role in Alice Springs.
Position Description
Provide person-centred support to NDIS Participants with:
* daily personal activities (shower, changing clothes, meal preparation),
* calendar management (especially, medical appointments),
* attending medical and other appointments,
* grocery shopping,
* liaising with health professionals as required,
* liaising with other members of their formal and informal support network,
* strict compliance to NDIS legislations and regulations, and
* strict adherence to company policies and procedures including Work Health and Safety rules.
Duties include:
(a) Accompanying aged and disabled persons during daily activities
(b) Assisting clients with their mobility
(c) Preparing food for clients
(d) Arranging social activities
(e) Performing housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming and cleaning
(f) Shopping and run errands for clients
(g) Living in with the clients
(h) Promoting the physical and emotional wellbeing of residents
(i) Ensuring person-centred support and support plans are at the forefront of everything you do
(j) Partnering with residents to be involved in the meaningful activities of their life
(k) Coordinating with other staff to achieve outcomes and liaise directly with nursing staff regarding any specific health concerns
Eligibility requirements
To be eligible, the ideal candidate must have the following:
* Hold a relevant qualification equivalent to an AQF Certificate II and one year of full-time (or part-time equivalent) work experience or hold a relevant qualification equivalent to an AQF Certificate III with relevant post qualification work experience of at least one year (minimum 20 hours plus per week)
* Proven work experience in working with Aboriginal people from Central Australia
* Understanding and appreciation of the culture and values of Aboriginal people from Central Australia
* Minimum 1 year of experience in working with NDIS participants with behaviour support plans
* Minimum 1 year of experience in working with NDIS participant who is under 18 years old
* Ability to provide personal care that involves manual handling without direct supervision
* Working knowledge of diabetes management practices
* Ability to liaise with immediate and extended family members of the NDIS participant as required
* Familiar with the dynamics of the support network of NDIS participants in Alice Springs
* Exceptional written and verbal communication including reporting incidents in a timely
* Current National Police Check
* Working with children clearance (Ochre card)
* Current First Aid Certificate/CPR
* Availability to work across a 24/7 Roster to meet operational needs
* NT Drivers Licence
