Job Description
We are currently seeking an experienced Brake Engineer for a contract role with one of our customers located in Geelong.
In this role, you will be working in a dynamic global environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Lead the design and development of brake system components, ensuring compliance with safety, performance, cost, and timing requirements.
* Develop and validate designs using Ford-specific tools such as Design Rules, SDS, and Attachment A, ensuring alignment with global standards.
* Apply reliability and robustness tools (FMEA, RRCL, P-Diagrams) to ensure high-quality, durable designs.
* Manage projects from concept to production, coordinating with suppliers and cross-functional teams across design, testing, and manufacturing.
* Utilize WERS, Digital Buck, and eFDVS for component release, 3D design review, and performance validation.
* Support prototype and pre-production builds, addressing technical issues promptly and ensuring readiness for mass production.
* Use quality systems such as AIMS and Global 8D for issue tracking, root cause analysis, and effective resolution.
* Collaborate with global engineering teams to ensure consistent design practices and continuous process improvement.
LEADERSHIP & TECHNICAL
* Proven team leadership and decision-making ability.
* Strong knowledge of brake systems, GD&T, CAE tools, and manufacturing processes.
* Skilled in validation, verification, and continuous design improvement.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's in Engineering with 5+ years' experience in brakes or chassis design.
* Strong in project management, Six Sigma, DFMEA/PFMEA, and GPDS processes.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and global coordination skills.
