Primary objective
Design and produce high-quality communication and promotional materials that support the school's strategic goals, including
creating newsletters, managing the school website, and producing the outpost publication. The role also involves video production,
student photography, and traveling to remote schools to document educational activities using professional photography and video
equipment. This position works closely with the multimedia and marketing team leader to ensure consistency with the school's
branding and communication standards.
Context statement
The Northern Territory School of Distance Education (NTSDE) supports and delivers a range of educational services to students,
resident in the Northern Territory or temporarily living interstate or overseas. NTSDE collaborates with home schools, supporting
educators to deliver high quality, innovative and flexible senior secondary online programs. School staff must be prepared to travel,
use advanced online technologies, and work in both online and face-to-face modes.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Design and produce multimedia content, such as newsletters and outpost publications, for both print and online use. Also
manage and update the school website and coordinate school events.
2. Travel to remote schools to capture student photos and record videos of educational activities using professional camera
equipment.
3. Create engaging promotional and educational content for social media and school events using a variety of tools, including
InDesign, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro.
4. Collaborate with the multimedia and marketing team leader to ensure all content aligns with the school's branding and
communication goals.
5. Maintain a digital archive of multimedia content and ensure timely publication across social media and promotional platforms.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in graphic design, video production, and content creation for both print and digital platforms.
2. Proven ability to manage and publish engaging content on social media, focusing on student engagement, community outreach,
and promoting school initiatives.
3. Strong communication and collaboration skills, working effectively with staff and stakeholders through all stages of content
production.
4. Skilled in operating professional cameras and editing software to produce high-quality visual content, with a willingness to travel
regularly to remote schools, including flying in small aircraft.
5. Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, work well under pressure, and meet required deadlines.
Desirable
1. Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS) and good skills in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
