Senior Project Manager – Overview
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of projects, including creation and management of the project schedule, cost, quality, and HSE. The role reports to the Programme Director and oversees the project and construction management team, contractors, consultants, and vendors.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate team members, manage performance, and ensure integration and communication among stakeholders.
* Ensure that project tasks are managed by the appropriate PM team member and are undertaken according to schedule and method statements.
* Develop solutions to resolve identified issues and mitigate risk.
* Understand the Keppel mission and project objectives, and explain what can be carried out, what needs modification, and conditions attached for projects in Australia, specifically Melbourne.
* Explain cultural and business practice differences between stakeholders, Keppel, contractors, and JV partners.
* Contribute to integrated design solutions, ensuring constructability, efficient detailed design, and commercial strategy.
* Lead early works readiness, transition to execution, liaise with government bodies, and monitor permitting processes to ensure compliance with local laws and regulations.
* Manage project budgets, process payments to contractors and consultants timely, and handle contract management.
* Maintain Project Master Schedules in Microsoft Project, provide regular progress updates, and compare to baseline for reporting.
* Run risk meetings to identify potential risks and develop contingency plans.
* Oversee construction and commissioning phases to meet required quality standards.
* Manage project closeout activities, complete final documentation, and ensure seamless handover to the client.
Requirements
* Minimum 15 years of experience in mission‐critical development projects, with data centre experience preferred.
* Strong, fair leadership style with the ability to engage at all levels, including government authorities, utilities providers, contractors, designers, and suppliers.
* Relevant experience in both domestic and multi‐national corporations.
* Engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil & Structural Engineering, Architecture, or Quantity Surveying.
* Project management and construction background in large‐scale mission‐critical projects with greenfield data centre site experience.
* Expertise in master planning, project scheduling, contractor management, and coordination.
* Experience integrating civil, structural, and MEPF works with sub‐structure and super‐structure projects.
* Design management skills, including reviewing drawings for buildability and alignment with approved consultant designs.
* Commercial strategy, early works readiness, and transition to execution skills.
* Proficiency in liaising with government bodies, monitoring permitting processes, and ensuring compliance.
* Budget management, payment processing, and contract management proficiency.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Project for creating and maintaining master schedules and producing weekly and monthly reports.
