Job Description
The Spot Trader and Operator plays a crucial role in the operations control centre, responsible for real-time dispatch, monitoring, analysis, and performance reporting of renewable energy and firming assets.
This role involves trade in the spot market for wind, solar, gas, and battery assets across the National Electricity Market (NEM), working with different bidding platforms.
Key responsibilities include managing risk associated with volatility in the electricity and ancillary service markets, analysing and understanding the behaviour of competitors operating within our traded markets, optimising the purchase and sale of fuel for peaking assets, and providing guidance and advice to the business on spot market dynamics in the NEM.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Trade experience in the NEM, including buying and selling in the spot market.
* Working knowledge of established trading systems and market data systems.
* Familiarity with database queries such as SQL, Power Query/BI, Python, and SCADA systems.
* Understanding of Australian energy market dynamics, including competitor behaviour and market trends.
