The Division of Surgery at NCH is responsible for delivering inpatient and outpatients surgical services and includes Surgical Bookings and Pre-Admission Clinic, Anaesthesia, Pain Management Unit, Perioperative Suite, Post-Anaesthetic Care Unit, Day Surgery Unit, Admissions, Endoscopy and specialist surgical ward areas.
The Endoscopy Unitprovides planned admitted and outpatient services for gastroenterology patients. The service is designed to provide consumers both outpatients and inpatients with access to gastroenterology services The focus for these services includes early intervention, diagnosis and treatment, education, prevention, assessment, treatment plans, surgical preparation, post-operative care for consumers with colonic and gastric abnormalities performing procedures like gastroscopy and colonoscopy under sedation /general anaesthetics.
Endoscopy Level 2 Nurse is a dynamic and skilled professional responsible for the provision of patient centered evidence-based nursing care for every patient. This dynamic and varied role is responsible for all stages of the patient journey within the department including patient admissions, safe intraprocedural care, recovery and safe and appropriate discharge of the patient.
Our nursing team works within an interdisciplinary healthcare team supported by Perioperative Education Team, and the Clinical Nurse Consultant.
