Therapeutic Specialist Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Therapeutic Specialist to join our services. In this pivotal role, you will provide direct therapeutic support, reflective practice, and coaching to the children and young people in our care.
The successful candidate will play a key role in building capability and embedding high-quality care across Tasmania. As a Therapeutic Specialist, you will lead through influence — intentionally guiding and supporting care teams to strengthen practice and deliver better outcomes for children and young people in Out of Home Care.
* Providing case consultation and therapeutic input to support children's individual developmental needs, strengthen healing relationships, and promote safety, belonging, and wellbeing.
* Coaching and building capacity in carers and staff through reflective practice, supervision, and case-based learning.
* Facilitating training, coaching, and reflective forums to strengthen staff and carer understanding of trauma, attachment, and developmental needs, supporting consistent application of CARE and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) in daily practice.
* Facilitating Communities of Practice (CoPs), practice forums, and contributing to the ongoing development of a positive, consistent, and learning-oriented practice culture.
* Partnering closely with the leadership team to strengthen service quality and uphold best practice across programs.
This is a Permanent Full-Time position, primarily based in Hobart, with flexibility to work from both office and home environments to support work-life balance. Please note, regular travel to children, young people, and carers on your caseload is required.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement therapeutic plans to meet the unique needs of each child and young person.
* Provide coaching and guidance to carers and staff to build their capacity and confidence in delivering high-quality care.
* Conduct case consultations and therapeutic interventions to support children's individual developmental needs.
* Facilitate training and coaching sessions to strengthen staff and carer understanding of trauma, attachment, and developmental needs.
* Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and implement policies and procedures that promote high-quality care and best practice.
Requirements:
* Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing or other related qualification.
* Current registration or eligibility for registration with the professional body relevant to your qualification.
* Demonstrated experience in working with children or young people in out of home care who have experienced trauma, abuse, and/or neglect.
* Strong understanding and experience in coaching staff and carers in the impact of trauma and pain-based behaviours.
* Current Full Unrestricted Driver's Licence.

* Competitive base salary + 11.5% super.
* Up to $15,900 annual salary sacrifice + $2600 annual meal and entertainment card.
* Monthly rostered day off.
* $12,000 per annum vehicle allowance.
