Australia is regularly affected by severe weather events. These events are growing in frequency and severity, leading to increased economic impact, vulnerability and potential magnitude of harm. To address this, the Bureau of Meteorology is delivering a more customer centric, unified and resilient national operation. This is an exciting strategic direction for the Bureau which will transform the way we deliver services to Australian communities.
The Bureau of Meteorology is developing and growing its Community Engagement capability, with a focus on public safety and effective risk management. As part of the Decision Support Services program, we seek to strengthen sector-wide capability across agencies, working with partners to equip, mobilise and integrate communities in preparation for, response to and recovery from disasters and emergencies. We provide specialist advice through knowledge sharing, team-oriented action and the development of strong relationships built on mutual trust and respect.
